Rock Band 2 Announced!
Everyone knew it was coming, but Harmonix has officially announced the arrival of Rock Band 2… in September! The name of the sequel appears to be Rock Band: Opening Act. I’m really hoping they change the name, since an opening act isn’t the pinnacle of rock success. Anyway, In a talk with IGN, Harmonix Lead Designer Dan Teasdale divulged a few details about the sequel, but what’s interesting are some of the questions he didn’t really answer.
You can read the whole article for yourself, but here’s a quick run down of all the most important facts:
1. The Rock Band DLC will work for both Rock Band 1 and 2, so you don’t have to worry about any incompatibility issues if you own either game.
2. There will be new instruments, but it doesn’t sound like they are going to have drastic changes like the differences between the Rock Band instrument to the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour drums. Instead it sounds like the changes will be more like the drums will be quieter, although there is a hint at some sort of customization with the instruments. And yes, your old Rock Band instruments will work with Rock Band 2.
3. There is a “killer” set list.
4. Customizing your characters has been broadened.
5. It doesn’t sound like there will be an option for creating your own music.
6. It doesn’t look like there will be duets any time soon.
