New SingStar Info; Get Your Karaoke On In June
Karaoke fans rejoice! Sony finally revealed information on the upcoming PS3 version of SingStar. The game will ship with 30 licensed tracks and music videos, with new downloadable tracks being released monthly starting in June. And not only will there be new songs every month, but the back catalog from previous installments of SingStar on the PS2 will be made available as well.
And for those of you who insist on recording yourselves singing “Barbie Girl” in a tube top while sucking a lolli, you’re in luck because SingStar is going to encourage all of it’s players to come together as a community and share your love for karaoke. Users will be able to create an online profile in which they can record their ground-breaking performance, share it online, and vote for the best singers.
Right now my only concern with this title is how much Sony will charge for the additional downloadable content. The recent uproar concerning the price of Guitar Hero II’s DLC has now made me wiser that music licenses cost some serious cash. If Sony can keep the price down to something that’s affordable, then SingStar could very well be the perfect party game that will bring both gamer and non-gamers together.

This will probably be a big hit in Japan. Don’t know much about Japan, but I do know they like their Karaoke.
As for me, I think I’m staying away from house that has one of these. It’d be pure torture.

@Richard: Then stay clear of mine because I am a karaoke fiend. In my previous life, I wrote and composed music, so I actually can sing. But y’know, that was a “long” time ago. Now I’m a blogger…nothing more…nothing less

Haha, I’ll be sure to keep that mind. Thankfully I live on the other side of the US, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Luckily you’re doing a great job with the blog. Not sure how you manage to get so many posts up a day. I can barely do one.
