NeoGAF’s Gaming Motivational Posters for 2007

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Gaming forums NeoGAF have started up their gaming themed motivational posters for this year. Using a script on bighugelabs.com, users (and yourself too!) can create a motivational poster and post them in this thread. Keep an eye on the thread for more updates as users make them (and if you are not a member of NeoGAF, feel free to make one and leave it in the comments here, I love these things). For now, check after the break to see some of my favorite pics so far just off the first few pages:

Jeff Minter Hates Frogger…. Jeff Who?!

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Jeff Minter, creator of huge classics that I have no doubts no one has heard of, such as Attack of the Mutant Camels, Revenge of the Mutant Camels, and Metagalactic Llamas Battle at the Edge of Time (no, I made none of those titles up). His most recent endeavor, one that I had somewhat looked forward to, was the Xbox Live Arcade’s “Space Giraffe.

It was a somewhat remake of Tempest which goes along with the beats. Now the game did not get raved reviews and it seems it didn’t sell well, at least not well enough for Minter, who recently posted on his Live Journal (I can’t believe people still use LJ):

jesus fucking christ

not seeing a lot of reason to continue even trying to make games, at this point, when a remake of Frogger, one of the worst games in the history of old arcade games, can outsell Space Giraffe that we put so much love and effort into, by more than ten to one, in one week.

OK, we get the message. All you want on that channel is remakes of old, shite arcade games and crap you vaguely remember playing on your Amiga.

We’ll shut up trying to do anything new then.

Sorry for even trying.

Wow, cry me a river. His game imo wasn’t terrible, not worthy of a purchase, but not complete crap, I have no doubts it has its audience (get the demo and try it for yourself). Either way, this is no way to go about dealing with bad/unexpected sales. If you have a game that has no advertisement and is confusing as all hell when you first try it competing with an already established classic title that anyone can easily pick up and play, do not compare your game.

“Believe” in the New TimeSplitters 4 Flash Teaser

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Though Free Radical Design has made it known that Haze will be a PS3 exclusive, the TimeSplitters series has pretty much been a multiplatform event. Even the Wii might get some love, as “Dr” David Doak of Free Radical has made it known that he is interested in putting TimeSplitters 4 on the system. Other than that, not much has been said about the game, with good reason though, as Haze should really be getting the limelight.

For TimeSplitters fans like myself, I can’t wait to put down Halo 3, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, and every other first person shooter in existence to play the next in this series. This time around though, they better just add a *$%$ing jump button!

Jack Thompson loves gay sex, compares himself to Paul Revere

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

jackie-boy.jpg

You know, it would take a feat of extraordinary measure for batshit crazy attorney Jack Thompson to render me speechless. But somehow… some way… Thompson found a way.

So what did this man, who has previously blamed Bill Gates for the Virginia Tech shootings, attacked both Halo 3 and Bully, and even used his own child to further his insane beliefs, do to make me literally choke on my cider?

…he mailed gay porn to a US District Court Judge! I have but one question for Jack Thompson: When you dove off the deep end, did you bring a shovel with you to dig deeper once you hit bottom?

GamePolitics has a more detailed account of what happened, but I’ll boil it down for you after the break.

Sega - Helping Console Fanboys Since 1940 (or) PS3 vs 360 Round 461

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

proof is in the pudding

In what is no doubt a the biggest proof of Sega and Microsoft in bed together, the above image was found out of a magazine that had an ad for Virtual Fighter 5. It is obvious that probably by some legal reasons (or a “just in case”) move, they had to ensure that you know if you buy a copy on a Sony system, you won’t get to play online, even though the PS3 owners have known they can’t play this game online since the beginning of the year.

So instead of using that image for fodder in your console wars, just make sure if you are on the Xbox 360 side of things, you let the Sony people know that they are ftl (”for the loss”) because they are playing an arcade port “Version B” of the Virtual Fighter 5, where as the Xbox 360 port of the game is “Version C.” After the person slaps you for knowing that information at all, you shall be the victor in the end for not resorting to physical violence and you can go back to your fighting game. (All the while the Sony Defense Force are off editing Halo 3 information on it’s Wikipedia page right before crashing midnight launch parties!)
