Aliens Games: I loves them
No, I didn’t spend a time writing up a really awesome list of all the games that have features the Aliens from the Alien movie franchise (AVP). That would require something called effort. Nope, I am linking to a really awesome guide to all of the Aliens related games out there.
Aliens is a franchise that has been pretty lucky when it comes to gaming. How many other films can say they’ve had an awesome side scrolling Capcom game, a kick ass arcade shooter, a fun movie based arcade game, at least two fantastic appearances on the PC in the form of AVP game? There are very few movie franchises that can boast so many successes with games with barely any failures. Hell, the Atari Jaguar’s best game was Aliens Vs. Predator. That’s in the history books, punks.
Personally, I have fond memories of the Commodore 64 Aliens. It was pimp, because it covered everything from the landing on the hostile planet to the final battle in the end. In fact, there’s this one level that has you moving your dots (i.e. remaining soldiers) through a maze of tunnels. You can sacrifice each one by leaving them to explode just like in the film. Now it looks pretty archaic, but back then it was a fun experience.
So this brings me to my final point. Where the hell is the Sega developed Aliens game? It was announced about a billion years ago and one of the last pieces of news was from March of ‘08. Come on already, let’s get this thing out.
