Ghost Busters: A Reason to Post this Picture Again

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Ahhh, I’m totally in love.

Anyway, in Ghost Busters news it seems that the upcoming game is no longer in Limbo. Atari has picked it up and has said that the game will come out early next summer, which just happens to the film’s 25th anniversary. This is good news to anyone who was looking forward to the game that was getting some good buzz and the involvement of the original creators (including Bill Murray!!).

I’ve been on board for wanting this game super bad since day one. Summer is a long time away, but at least it’s not in a containment field… like they keep the ghosts in! Get it!?

And on another note… Ghost Busters is going to be 25 years old? Hot damn, I’m an old man now.

The Beatles Game

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

One of the biggest untapped veins for music game goodness is The Beatles. They had over five billion hits before the founders split up and decided to make shitty music on their own. Now MTV and Apple Corps have teamed up to make a new Beatles game.

Why I don’t want a Wii for Christmas

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I’m sure that this year will be another stellar year for Nintendo Wii sales and for good reason, it’s a low cost system that has an enormous appeal to the general, non-gaming public.

I don’t want one. Why? Well, the fact that there’s almost no games for the system doesn’t really help it’s case. Many of the “games” currently available aren’t very appeal for someone in my situation (i.e. a being an incredibly sexy man). I don’t want to pretend to exercise nor I don’t want to pretend to play an play an instrument that requires the level of skill an infant possesses. Most importantly, the only appealing thing about the Wii for me is the long list of older games that I can get for free off the internet via the mighty powers of piracy.

So save yourself the trouble, just send me a two hundred dollar check. Thanks.

Star Trek MMO Combat Might not Suck

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

If you’re looking forward to the Star Trek MMO, you’re a huge nerd. But that’s okay and you’ve probably come to terms with it. One aspect that might have worried those looking forward to the upcoming Star Trek game is the issue of space combat. A lot of MMOs handle combat as adventures in clicking. It seems that Star Trek Online will handle space combat more along the lines of a dedicated space combat sim:

GAFtDoY: The Virtual Boy

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

gameadsfromdaysofyore.jpg

The Virtual Boy game system by Nintendo was so awesome and ahead of it’s time no one bought it. They couldn’t comprehend how amazing it was to ruin their necks and burn out their retinas staring into a sort-of 3D world made up entirely of red lines. How could they? They were primitive Neanderthals in the presences of a technology they could barely comprehend. Imagine if stone age man encountered a simple flash light? He would be both confused and frightened by the device he couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

Girls, Stop Licking Your Games

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

You know what’s gross? Girls licking video game paraphernalia like controllers or portable systems. Observe:

Yes, if you’re a hot chick it is sexy to lick objects like bananas, lolly pops, or beer bottles, but it is not sexy to lick something that’s handled all the time by dirty people like a game controller or a set of janitor’s keys. I’m not saying that gamers are necessarily dirty, I’m saying that people are dirty in general. There are many other things you can put your tongue on and look sexy. I can think of a number or them right now, most of which are in my pants, but video game paraphernalia should not be included in the list of those items.

Zombies!!!

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Sometimes I really wish I had friends. Sure, I’ve got people I talk to on the internet, but my social life in real life is non-existant. I think I smell or something. Anyway, if I did have friends, I always wanted to play niche board games like ZOMBIES!!! with them. Well, it looks like I’ll have the chance to play it in the virtual world when it’s translated into video game form and released on XBox Live or PSN.

Wii Music Track List

Friday, October 24th, 2008

While looking around for gaming news to either make fun of or bitch about, I stumbled across the track listing for Wii Music after being told it’s extremely eclectic by friend Shawn. He’s right, the list looks like it was assembled by a schizophrenic with a taste for songs you didn’t like since the third grade:

Games I Demand: A New X-Wing Title

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

One of the greatest gaming experiences of my early years was the X-Wing series of games on the PC in the ’90s. Those games had an amazing amount of depth that made you feel like you were a pilot in either the Alliance or the Empire (depending on the game). If you don’t know how great the games were watch the above video. It does them more justice than I could.

EA to Revive Syndicate?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

The new retro rumor is that EA is looking to revive Syndicate, a game that means nothing to you if you haven’t played a lot of games in the ’90s. Why should you care about Syndicate? Because it was sweet sauce on ice. You took the reigns of a global corporation that would fight other corporations for dominance by using some of the dirtiest tricks imaginable like assassination.

Kotaku’s Crotches and Boobs!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

One thing that evil gaming blog Kotaku does exceedingly well is have updates showing off game related babes. I’ve seen two different posts that covered two main areas of the female anatomy quite well. The first is a post talking about the top fifty cosplay cleavage shots. (The Kotaku post was inspired by the top fifty cleavage shots found on Kezins.com, but that was crushed by what I’m assuming was a gigantic crush of horny traffic)

Here’s one pic from one of the chicks from the post.

A BioShock 2 Teaser

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I know I’m the last one to post this, but you have to give me some leeway. I was busy beating Castle Crashers. Anyway, this teaser trailer doesn’t show much of anything at all, but at least it’s something for anyone looking forward to the inevitable sequel to Bioshock.

I’m not so sure how I feel about Bioshock 2. On one hand I’m excited, since it was a really great first person shooter with an amazing setting and a great plot. On the other hand I’m a tad worried, because the first one was such a unique experience that it overrode any of the problems I had with the game. I mean really, it was hard to swallow that anyone in Rapture could just buy guns or Plasmids capable of killing thousands out of a vending machine. Bioshock also relied on a huge twist as one of it’s wow factors, if the sequel even attempts to do something like that, then they might be in trouble.

Civilization: Revolutions Destroys Lives

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This last Saturday was Sweetest day and if you’re a guy with a girlfriend or wife you probably heard all about it because you forgot about it. I too have suffered missing out on it, but what’s nice is that the wife didn’t expect me to remember at all and she got me some things for the made up holiday. Oh yeah, I’m living on easy street. One of the things she got me was Civilization: Revolution for the Nintendo DS.

She figured I’d like the game because I dig strategy and there aren’t many other games that appeal to adults on the DS or at least at Best Buy. Jesus, I can’t believe how many pet games there are. Anyway, what she didn’t know is that I have a deadly addiction to Civilization games. When I bought Civ III for the Playstation, it pretty much destroyed my college grades. Yep, Civ III addiction almost made me fail college with it’s absorbing empire building game play. It was only through sheer willpower that I was able to pull through.

It looks like this Revolutions holds up to that earlier port. If I don’t have any posts this week, you’ll know why. I played for three and a half hours straight today. I couldn’t stop myself, my Napoleon had to destroy Chairman Mao and destroy him he did.

Seriously, only get this game at your own risk.

GaftDoY: Aliens vs Predator on the Jaguar

Friday, October 17th, 2008

gameadsfromdaysofyore.jpg

Yeah, I get it. The only thing you readers like are posts about boobs. Well, to give this blog some sort of legitimacy and to keep myself sane I have to write about other things. Deal with it.

Anyway, back in the day when the Atari name still meant a little something they had the Jaguar, which failed miserably. The most notable game that received the best reviews out of their entire crappy line up was Aliens vs. Predator. As a fan of both Aliens and Predators, this game is of particular interest to me because I”m pretty sure I’ll never play it. Here’s a commercial for the game that I dug up on YouTube:
